vCard data is assembled and encoded on your device only. Ideal for business cards, conference badges, and storefront windows where you want a digital handshake without a third-party contact platform.

Exchanging business cards is faster when one scan imports every field. A vCard QR code embeds a standard electronic contact file (vCard 3.0) that iOS and Android read natively — name, phone, email, company, title, website, and address land in the address book without typos. Our vCard QR generator builds that payload in your browser, previews the code live, and exports print-ready PNG or SVG files for cards, signage, and email signatures.

What Is vCard?

vCard (.vcf) is an open format for electronic business cards, maintained as RFC 6350. Email clients, CRM systems, and smartphones have supported it for decades. When encoded inside a QR code, the entire card travels as plain text starting with BEGIN:VCARD. After scanning, the user taps “Add contact” and all fields populate automatically — far more reliable than OCR on a printed card.

How to Use the vCard QR Generator

  1. Fill in your details — At minimum, add a name plus phone or email so the code is valid.
  2. Preview the QR code — The image updates as you type; scan with your own phone to verify.
  3. Adjust size and colors — Match your brand for cards and posters; use higher error correction for small print.
  4. Download PNG or SVG — Place on business cards, lanyards, slide decks, or storefront stickers.
  5. Test on both platforms — iOS and Android parsers differ slightly; confirm optional fields import correctly.

Why Use a Contact QR Instead of a URL?

A link QR sends people to a website they must navigate. A vCard QR delivers structured contact data directly into the phone book — fewer steps, higher completion rates at networking events. Pair it with a simple URL QR on the back of a card if you also want traffic to your portfolio. For teams, everyone can generate consistent codes without a paid “digital business card” subscription.

Key Features

  • vCard 3.0 Standard

Broad compatibility with iOS, Android, and desktop clients.

  • Full Contact Fields

Name, phone, email, org, title, website, and mailing address.

  • Print-Ready Export

High-resolution PNG and scalable SVG downloads.

  • Private by Design

No cloud storage — your contact info never leaves the browser.

Design Tips for Business Cards

Place the QR in a corner with at least 4 mm quiet zone (empty margin) around it. Avoid glossy lamination directly over the code — matte finishes reflect less glare under event lighting. Keep module color dark on a light background; inverted light-on-dark codes often fail on older scanners. Test at the final printed size before a large print run.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will this work on iPhone and Android?
Yes. Both platforms recognize vCard data inside QR codes from the built-in camera and offer to create a new contact with the fields you provided.
Do I need a LinkedIn or third-party card app?
No. This tool produces a self-contained static QR code. Recipients are not required to install any app beyond their phone’s camera.
Can I update the contact later?
Static vCard QR codes embed the data in the image. If your phone number changes, regenerate and reprint the code. For frequently changing info, consider pairing a vCard QR with a URL QR to your website.
